When you are going to purchase a new hard disk Drive, you will find a wide variety of them. then you will have to think about which internal hard drive to buy ?
Therefore, when purchasing, it is essential to have an understanding of the type and the type of motherboard that will be fitted.
There are several types of hard disk drives, depending on the internal layout and how you connect to the computer. This is a description of the types of hard drives currently available in the market.
PATA, abbreviated to ATA, is a parallel ATA interface called the Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment.
Although they are often referred to as IDE hardware, they were later upgraded and released as Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics (EIDE). Introduced by Western Digital in 1986, these hard disks were brought to a computer with a port that could be connected to the computer.
Its data speed is 133 megabits per second, and only two hard drives can be connected to a single channel. It used 40 to 80 cables, which were parallel enough to send several bits.
These hard drives used magnetic disks. On top of that, a head (read head) moved and writes and reads the data, and in order to increase the volume of data, several disks were placed on top of each other and several arm heads were applied.
IDE, as the name implies, is the difference in connectivity of the SATA disks that came after the PATA hard disk, using its serial ATA interface.
These are used for desktop as well as laptops, and because of their advanced signal technology, speeds of up to 150 megabits per second, the cables used are smaller, thinner and more flexible. The width of the port was also quite low and there were only 7 pin. But the maximum length of the cable was only one meter.
This is because bandwidth sharing is not possible in the data circulation, since the motherboard’s SATA controller chip can support only one hard drive. The hard drive consumed less power and needed just 250mV compared to PATA’s 5V.
This type of hard disk, called the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), is similar to the ATA disk, but the port connected to the computer is different.
This hard drive can be accessed internally or externally to a desktop computer that does not have a SCSI slot but can be accessed via a SCSI card attached to the PCI Express slot.
The 15 SCSI hard drives can be operated in a single serial, fast, reliable, 24-hour, seven-day operation, making them ideal for large amounts of data circulation and storage. The data cable is less than 3 feet long, making sure the data is accurate. SCSI terminator must be attached at the end of the connected drive series.
RAID Drive / combination of several hard drives
A RAID system can be used to increase the data speed. Some hard drives such as SCSI, ATA, or FireWire can be used as hardware or software interchangeably, and data read and write speeds are high.
These systems that simultaneously transmit data to multiple disks can also be used as a backup. That is, one file can be stored on all hard drives simultaneously. Third-level RAID systems are often used when data is worth more than money, and are more expensive because they are built with special hardware.
We can set up RAID systems ourselves or buy a market-ready system. Individuals need to make sure they are well ventilated.
Solid state drives are hard drives that use flash storage, as in Penn drives, instead of magnetically storing data from the arm of fast moving disks. Because there is no moving part of this, the speed of data storage is very high. They are made for MacBooks that look like a regular hard drive, box-like box, RAM card, and VGA cards. Such devices are called PCIe and their circuitry is exposed to the outside so that a chip with flash memory can be seen. These low-drive, high-speed data transmissions do not hurt. However, data mining is often not advisable to preserve data as long as the magnetic data is present. We have brought about this in a previous article
