When choosing a smartphone, what is the first thing you look for? According to the new S20 phone; Your answer appears to be the “camera.” 20? Yes, Samsung has decided to jump from the S10 to the S20 once Apple jumps from the iPhone 8 to the X (10).
Galaxy UNPACKED 2020 was held this morning on the 12th. A notable feature was that it used S20 phones instead of video cameras to stream live.
Simply put, the front of the S20 is very similar to last year’s Note 10. It was because the Selfie camera was placed right in the middle. Also, the Note 10 has a flat, flat surface with no sides.
It is easy to hold in the hand, except for the areas where the button is located, thinning the metal edges and extending the rear surface. This time the Volume and Power buttons have been moved to the right and the Bixby button has been removed. The Power Key now works for Bixby.
Samsung Galaxy S20 comes with Gorilla Glass 6 protection on both sides. It also increases the likelihood of sweat marks on the fingertips. The Samsung logo is noted near the bottom of all three models.
The rear camera holder of both the Galaxy S20 and S20 + phones is an oblong rectangle, the same size. The S20 Ultra is less in length but has increased in width and thickness. At the bottom there is a folded zoom lens called the Space Zoom 100x.
The S20 is available in Cosmic Gray, Cloud Blue and Cloud Pink colors, while the S20 + is available in Cosmic Black, Gray and Blue, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra is available in black and gray colors.
As stated earlier, all three models have an Infinity-O, or a small cut in the upper center, and the Selfie camera has not lost much of the screen as of last year. The screen has HDR10 + support, a quad HD + resolution with Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology.
MKBHD points out that although the S20 is a 120Hz display for advertising, it is only 60Hz when purchased, and the resolution is reduced to FHD (2400×1080) and 120Hz. Touch sensitivity is also increased to 240Hz compared to that for a smoother screen experience.
The screen sizes of the three models are 6.2 inches, 6.20 inches on the Galaxy S20, and 6.9 inches on the Ultra. VDE is certified in Germany, and SGS certified for preventing the eye-blue color.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S20 and 20+ phones have a selfie camera of 10 megapixels, f / 2.2 and a 26mm wide lens. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 40 megapixel camera that can play 4K videos.
In terms of rear cameras, the S20 and S20 + have three cameras. It has a 12 MP wide camera, another 12 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64 MP telephoto lens. The S20 + also has a 0.3 megapixel sensor that delivers depth.
The S20 Ultra has a 12 MP ultra wide camera on the left-hand side, a 108 MP wide-angle camera on the bottom, and a depth sensor called DepthVision.
The lower part of it is a 48 MP telephoto lens. It can bring up to 100x more zoom capability with software support. Samsung named it Space Zoom.
All three models can take up to 8K video, pull out a video frame and convert it into a 30MP photo. But, 8K has one problem. That is, both the S20 and S20 + record 8K with a telephoto lens, and tracking auto focus and video effects are impossible. Ultra mode doesn’t have this problem.
This year, a mode called Single Take has been introduced. It can capture several videos of different time periods, multiple filtered photos in one tap.
The new phone with Android 10.0 and One UI 2 comes with an Exynos 990 processor, Mali-G77 graphics processor, and UFS 3.0 capacity.
There are 4G as well as 5G models. But since these are 5G sub-6s it only gets about 20% more speed than a good 4G speed.
The S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra battery capacities are 4000 mAh, 4500 mAh, and 5000 mAh respectively.
The 420 model of the S20 and S20 + phones comes with 128 GB internal storage and 8 GB RAM. The S20 + 5G model has an internal capacity of 128/256 / 512GB with 12GB of RAM.
The S20 Ultra only comes with 5G model, 12GB RAM with 128GB / 256GB internal storage, 16GB RAM with 512GB internal storage.
Because of the IP68, it can hold up to 1.5 meters of pure water, up to 30 minutes, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen, an AKG headphone that can be connected via USB-C. You can link to a TV through an HDMI adapter.
Overall, this year’s “wow ..!” There is hardly any unique feature that gives the impression. As in previous years, it is satisfactory to use a selfie camera without sidelining the screen. The rear design is not as appealing as the iPhone 11’s. What do you think? Are you ready to spend over 1100$ (us) on camera, 120Hz screen and 5G sub-6?
